Product of the Day: Neal's Yard Frankincense Hydrating Cream

My skin is quite schizophrenic especially in the changing season. Sometimes its dry and when I put on a hydrating face pack, it starts breaking out. So to find a moisturiser that balances and nourishes my skin without making it reactive is miraculous to say the least. I have been using the Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream all winter and I love it because its creamy, moisturising and calming. But, it’s too rich for summer.

When I went to Zehen in Delhi to interview Rossano Ferretti I was so, so happy to discover that Neal’s Yard is now in India. Their products are vegan, cruelty free andmost importantly effective. I bought the Frankincense Nourishing Cream because I was on the last dregs of the Rose Day Cream. The first three ingredients in the cream are water, sunflower seed oil, and glycerin - absolutely fabulous. When you’re buying beauty products you must always look at the ingredients. The first three are the ones that matter most because they are in the highest concentration. So to find these three beautiful ingredients right at the top made by heart sing with joy.

The cream itself is rich but very, very lightweight. It absorbs immediately into the skin making you feel moisturised but without zero oiliness. The silken texture works wonderfully as a makeup base, although if you’re prone to sweatiness on your face this might make it sweatier because of the high moisture content. I’ve been using this cream for over a month now and find that it’s a beautiful basic moisturiser, which contains no parabens, phthalates or any other nasties. Yes, it does have a bit of alcohol but that hasn't inflamed my rosacea prone complexion as yet.
