Smita Lasrado
She’s walked the ramp for Chanel, Dior, Vivienne Westwood, and was also the face for Harrods beauty. As a model she works like a chameleon, stepping into character as soon as the camera starts flashing. As a person she’s fun, goofy, intelligent, and modest. Meet Smita Lasrado, fashion’s favourite girl.
Define beauty?
I think beauty for me is loving who you are. Not like a narcissist. But just being confident about who you are. Beauty is also good skin, honest eyes and a real smile.
What’s your diet like?
I can’t diet. I tried it once and no carbs make you crazy. I try to eat home cooked food as much as possible. And I prefer real meals over junk food. I have a really fast metabolism so I don’t have any serious weight issues. If I do put on weight its usually on my waist, then I try to reduce refined and fried foods. I’ve also started doing yoga with Tanvi at Tangerine Arts Studio in Mumbai, and that has made me feel stronger and fitter.
How do you de stress?
My favourite way is to play with my neighbours kids or to go on a bike ride with my husband. Sometimes though nothing makes you feel better than a piece of cake.
What is your favourite skin treatment?
I don’t do anything special. I literally wash and moisturise but I would never turn down a face massage.
What is your skincare like?
I use Bioderma Crealine H2O to cleanse, Embroylisse to moisturise. I’ve been using Embroylisse for seven years now. I swear by it! I don’t exfoliate right now but before I was using Kanebo Sensai Silk Peeling Powder and it was really, really good! Pricey though! I also put a lot of good stuff in my body though like fruits and veggies, yogurt, garlic, spices, organic ghee etc. I think that has a greater impact on your skin than anything you do externally. And sleep.
Tell us about your hair.
I’ve recently started getting my hair cut with Cyril Laloue. He is a hair stylist and gives really cool haircuts. I now get massages from an acupressure doctor and that’s made a world of a difference.
What is the common beauty mistake that women make?
It’s an old one but unfortunately still holds true. Too much makeup and too thin eyebrows. Nothing ages you faster than these two mistakes.
What’s your favourite makeup?
L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara, M.A.C Russian Red Lipstick, and Guerlain Quatre Saisons Blush.
What is the biggest beauty myth?
That you need to do a lot. All the people i know with the best skins normally do little to nothing at all.
